LEGACY GPS500 - Time Code Server – Masterclock

The GPS500 was a stand-alone timecode server that generated SMPTE, EBU or IRIG-B timecode from direct GPS synchronisation. With -11.5 to +12 hour time-zone offsets in 30-minute increments. This model has been retired. For new installations with GPS or GNSS synchronised timecode generation, Daylight bv points to the NTP100-GNSS combined with a GMR5000 (with TCG option), which offers the same functionality in a current, multi-GNSS fed architecture.

Frequently asked questions

Is the GPS500 still available?

No, retired. In addition, GPS-only (without GLONASS/Galileo/BeiDou) is no longer the current standard. For new timecode generation from a satellite source, choose the GMR5000 with TCG option and multi-GNSS input.

Which combination offers comparable functionality?

A GMR5000 (multi-GNSS grandmaster) with the TCG (Time Code Generator) option generates SMPTE or IRIG-B timecode from GNSS. This is the current replacement with greater flexibility and better holdover.

What if I still have a working GPS500?

A working unit can stay in service. On failure or new installation, Daylight bv will point you to the GMR route. The full 5-year warranty applies to a new GMR5000 + TCG.

Can I reuse my existing timecode cabling?

Yes, the timecode outputs of a GMR5000 (BNC, SMPTE or IRIG-B) are compatible with the same coax infrastructure as the GPS500. Replacement is typically transparent for the downstream cabling.
