LORAN-CLORAN-C

LORAN-C (Long Range Navigation) determined position and time from the time difference between long-wave signals of ground transmitters. It was the standard for marine and aviation navigation for decades before GPS took over.

Because the powerful ground signal is hard to disrupt, a modernised version (eLoran) is being reconsidered as a backup for GNSS time.
