Clocks and oscillators

Disciplining

Also: GNSS disciplining

In disciplining, the clock continuously adjusts its internal oscillator based on an external reference, usually the 1PPS signal from GNSS. This combines the long-term accuracy of the reference with the short-term stability and holdover of the clock's own oscillator.

A GNSS-disciplined OCXO or rubidium is a common master-clock configuration.
