A 10 MHz signal is the de facto standard frequency reference in laboratories and test setups. Instruments such as spectrum analysers, generators and clocks have a 10 MHz in/out to run on a common, stable frequency.

Often the 10 MHz from a GNSS-disciplined or atomic source is distributed to all equipment via a distribution amplifier.
