LEGACY PCIe-GPS - PC Card – Masterclock

The PCIe-GPS was a PCIe card that synchronised a PC directly with GPS satellites to within ±2 ms. This model has been retired without a direct replacement; Masterclock currently does not offer a PCIe-GNSS card. For PC time synchronisation with GNSS, Daylight bv points customers to an external NTP100-GNSS server on the network combined with a standard NTP client on the PC, which gives sufficient precision in most scenarios without a PCIe card.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PCIe-GPS still available?

No, retired with no direct replacement. Masterclock does not offer a current PCIe-GNSS card.

What is an alternative?

An external NTP100-GNSS server on your LAN, combined with the standard Windows/Linux NTP client (W32Time or chrony). This typically delivers ±millisecond accuracy, sufficient for most applications.

What about microsecond-level PC synchronisation?

For microsecond-level precision, look at PTP (IEEE 1588) hardware time-stamping, or use the PCIe-TCR card with IRIG-B input from a GMR grandmaster. Request a design review.

My existing PCIe-GPS still works, should I replace it?

A working card can stay in service. On failure or a PC upgrade where the card no longer fits the new hardware: switch to the NTP100-GNSS + NTP client route.
