ppm and ppb

The deviation of an oscillator is often given in ppm (parts per million, 10⁻⁶) or ppb (parts per billion, 10⁻⁹).

1 ppm corresponds to about 0.0864 seconds of deviation per day; 1 ppb is a thousand times better. The lower the value, the more stable the clock and the better the holdover.
